Some places feel like they belong to another world, and Spiti Valley is one of them. Tucked high in the Himalayas at about 12,500 feet, this cold desert is all rugged mountains, quiet villages and centuries-old monasteries. The name means "middle land", because it sits between India and Tibet. In winter, with snow on the ridges and frozen stillness everywhere, Spiti becomes even more magical. The Frozen Spiti Valley 6N/7D trip by Deyor is made for people who want to see it that way.
Many travellers call Spiti a "mini Ladakh" without the crowds, and winter adds to that. The valley is quieter, the light is sharper and the villages feel untouched. You get the Buddhist culture, the high-altitude landscapes and the calm without the summer rush. It is a trip for people who prefer silence and big views over busy sightseeing. If you want to compare options, Deyor's Spiti Valley tour packages and its guide to the best time to visit Spiti Valley will help.
Delhi to Shimla. You gather at the boarding point around 9 PM, meet your trip captain and fellow travellers, and take an overnight Volvo to Shimla.
Shimla to Sarahan. After a break at Narkanda, you drive along the river via Rampur Bushar to Sarahan. Visit the roughly 800-year-old Bhimakali Temple, then relax with the group around a bonfire.
Sarahan to Sangla. After a sunrise and breakfast, you drive through the gateway of Kinnaur towards Sangla, with a stop at Chitkul, the last village near the China border. Dinner and a bonfire in Sangla end the day.
Sangla to Tabo. You cross the Khab bridge, where the Spiti and Sutlej rivers meet, and enter Spiti Valley. A stop at Gue Monastery lets you see its famous mummy, said to be about 500 years old. You reach Tabo by evening.
Tabo to Kaza. You visit Dhankar Monastery, perched on rocky spurs and believed to be around 1,000 years old, before reaching Kaza and exploring its market.
Kaza sightseeing. This is the big day. You visit Komic, one of the world's highest motorable villages, and Hikkim, where you can send a postcard from the world's highest post office. You also see Key Monastery, the villages of Langza and Kibber, and the Chicham Bridge, the highest bridge in Asia.
Kaza to Kalpa and return. You head down to Kalpa, with views of the Kinnaur Kailash range, then travel back via Shimla for the overnight Volvo to Delhi.

It suits solo travellers, friends and anyone who wants a guided winter group trip without planning transport or stays. You don't need to ride or drive, and local drivers handle the roads. It does help to be comfortable with cold weather and high altitude.
Dress in warm layers. Thermals, a down jacket, gloves, a cap and good boots are essential.
Go slow at altitude. Drink water, rest when needed and tell the trip captain if you feel unwell.
Expect surprises. Winter roads can be affected by snow or landslides, so keep some flexibility in your plans.
Carry cash and power banks. ATMs and network coverage are limited in remote villages.
Pack light. Soft bags are easier to handle in tempo travellers and small hotels.
Deyor is a Gurugram-based travel company that started in 2016. It was founded by Chirag Gupta, Dheeraj Jain and others in the travel tech space. It began with camping experiences and now runs group trips, bike expeditions and international holidays. Popular trips include the Spiti Valley bike trip, Leh Ladakh bike tours and the Tawang bike trip. You can read traveller feedback on the Deyor reviews page.
Deyor has also appeared on national television. Co-founders Chirag Gupta and Himanshu Agarwal pitched the company to the judges on Sony TV's Shark Tank in February 2023. Not every pitch makes it to air, so it is a proud moment for the brand and a good reason for first-time travellers to book with confidence.
